What's Happening at NYCC?
Dr. Holder's message series Kingdom Builders: Living Beyond Yourself, an 8-week message series designed to help you discover your God-given purpose and make a lasting impact right where you are will continue on May 31. This is the next step after Built to Last—moving from living what you’ve learned to helping others grow through your life.
Join Dr. Holder Wednesdays from 7:30–8:30pm for Counterfeit Faith: Knowing Truth, Exposing Error, Responding with Love, a 5-week Bible study beginning May 27th focused on understanding biblical truth and recognizing false teaching. As many of us encounter these conversations right outside our doors, this class will help us clearly know what we believe and how to respond with both clarity and love. Topics include Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, the gift of tongues, and the Word of Faith movement. This will be a HYBRID class both in-person in the Window Lounge and via ZOOM. Sign up to receive zoom info.
Our 10-week book study on "Weak Church" by Pastor Peter Ahn continues through June 2nd. "Weak Church" is a powerful look at how God’s strength is revealed through our weakness. Join us Tuesday nights @ 7:30PM. Let His power be revealed through our weakness. Books will be available for purchase today after service. See Evangelist Melissa with questions.
Church, in the times we are living in, we cannot be silent about our faith. Crosstrainers partnered with us to create two biblical statement shirts, “Mercy” and “Born Sinners,” meant to boldly represent Christ and the Gospel. If you are interested, the shirts will be available in the fellowship hall after service.
May is Mental Heath Awareness Month. Join NYCC member and Mental Health RN Pat Myrie after service on May 31 for a discussion about mental health challenges - the stigma, depression, anxiety, hopelessness. Get some wellness tips, encouragement, and free resources. Meet in the rear of the sanctuary 15 minutes after service for a short talk.
Class 501: Discovering My Worship will take place Saturday, June 6 from 9AM–2PM. If you desire a deeper, more consistent worship life, one that overflows into your everyday living, we invite you to join us on this journey with Sis. Danielle Fuller and Dr. Holder. This is now your final foundational class. Sign up HERE.
Be a part of the critical conversation. Join us Saturday, June 13, here at 500 Main St as NYCC hosts a Juneteenth Celebration with Abby Phillip - CNN Anchor and Author of "A Dream Deferred: Jesse Jackson and the Fight for Black Political Power" as she sits with Dr. Holder and area pastors to discuss the legacy of the fight for political power and the current state of affairs. Join the conversation, receive an autographed copy, enjoy small southern bites. Click HERE to purchase tickets. We encourage you to share with your networks and invite friends and family.
