Join Us for a Season of Fasting, Prayer, and Repentance!
As we prepare to transition into our new building in downtown New Rochelle, we invite our entire church family to unite in a church-wide Season of Fasting, Prayer, and Repentance. This spiritual journey is an opportunity to seek God’s guidance, renew our hearts, and position our church to be a transformative light in our community.
Vision and Purpose:
This season is centered on Joel 2:12-13:
"Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love…”
Why We Fast, Pray, and Repent:
- Fasting: To humble ourselves, focus on God, and prepare for effective ministry.
- Prayer: To seek God’s wisdom, intercede for our church, and grow closer to Him.
- Repentance: To align our hearts with God’s will and ready ourselves for leadership and service.
Monthly Focus Areas:
Each month will have a specific focus for fasting and prayer:
- March 2: Building Transition Month
- Fast For: Wisdom and discernment in leadership.
- Pray For: A smooth transition into the new church building.
- Repent Of: Resistance to change or lack of trust in God’s provision.
- April 6: Outreach and Connection Month
- Fast For: Creative strategies to engage our community.
- Pray For: Connection with new residents of New Rochelle.
- Repent Of: Complacency in community engagement.
- May 4: Youth and Families Month
- Fast For: Our youth and children’s ministries.
- Pray For: Growing ministries that help families deepen their faith and feel a sense of belonging.
- Repent Of: Neglecting intergenerational ministry.
Additional focus areas in October, November, and December will continue to guide us as we prepare for ministry in our growing mission field in downtown New Rochelle.
How to Participate:
- Choose a fasting method (e.g., traditional fast, partial fast, or abstaining from specific activities).
- Dedicate time daily for prayer and scripture reading.
- Reflect and repent, aligning your heart with God’s purposes.
Our Call to Action:
Let us step into this season together, trusting God to do a mighty work in us and through us. As Isaiah 58:6 reminds us:
"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?"
Mark Your Calendar:
The journey begins Saturday, March 2, and continues monthly throughout the year. Together, let’s fast, pray, and repent as one body, preparing to see God’s glory revealed in this new chapter of ministry.
